The dreaded "summer slide" & a easy tips to combat it
Hard-earned months of academic progress can slip through our fingers over the summer.
In one quick blur of screen-time and late bedtimes, kids can return to school in September far behind where they were when they left in June. On average, students lose two months of reading skills over the summer months.
Summer slide can often be a battle because parents and kids don’t have the time (or motivation, after a long school-year) to do “homework” during the summer months. The good news is - no homework is required to keep kids engaged and learning all summer long. Sparking kids’ natural curiosity, learning together and spending quality time is the best way to help kids continue to grow all summer.
This easy to download resource (in English & Spanish) will hopefully provide a different perspective about what it means to learn with kids. You can send to your teachers to pass out to parents, include in newsletters, or shout it from the rooftops. Goodbye, summer slide. Your families, kids, and teachers will thank you.
Committed to your success,
