I wanted to let you know that NCLB is up for reauthorization in 2007. This is a really good chance for you to voice your opinions regarding this legislation. You have several options.

Contact your congressional representative and let them know how you feel. With e-mail, it won’t take you but a few minutes to compose a note and hit the send button. Let your voice be heard.

Get involved with organizations like the National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education (www.ncpie.org). That group, chaired by Sue Ferguson, is very active in getting information to the correct people on Capital Hill

Get involved with the Public Education Network (www.publiceducation.org) Sign up to receive the weekly PEN Newsblast which keeps you informed of the latest news and events surrounding education and the government.

Write directly to the United States Department of Education (www.ed.gov) or your state department of education. Let them know how you feel about NCLB and what alterations you would like to see in the upcoming reauthorization.

Of course, you have the option of doing nothing as well.
